John Fagan

Professor of Molecular Biology, Researcher

Dr. Fagan, Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology at Cornell University, is Professor of Molecular Biology at Maharishi International University, where he leads a research program using transcriptomic and metabolomic approaches to understand the molecular biology of higher states of consciousness. He also uses these methodologies to study the molecular mechanisms underlying the rapid recovery of PTSD patients brought about by practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique. Dr. Fagan is also CEO and Chief Science Officer at Health Research Institute, a 501(c)3 non-profit research and education institution employing molecular research tools to understand the links between farming methods, food quality and health, and to integrate traditional and molecular approaches to health. Earlier, Dr. Fagan researched molecular mechanisms in carcinogenesis and assessed gene-regulatory impacts of environmental toxicants such as dioxins and PCBs. He has been published in leading scientific journals and supported by millions of dollars in grants.
